In Karakalpakstan, a total of 2.2 trillion sum has been allocated for the development of centralized drinking water supply systems in settlements, funded by international financial institutions, state, and local budgets. This is stipulated in a presidential decree adopted on February 21.

According to the decree, major projects to accelerate urbanization processes and improve the ecological situation will also be implemented in Karakalpakstan.

Specifically, under the World Bank's "Comprehensive Development of Medium-Sized Cities" project, a territorial planning strategy for Karakalpakstan will be developed. Additionally, spatial and master plans will be prepared for the Kungrad and Chimboy districts, as well as the city of Nukus, which have been granted the status of "district (city) in the image of New Uzbekistan."

To enhance infrastructure, construction of major facilities will begin in 2026. In particular, in Nukus, to reduce congestion, a 2.2-kilometer road connecting Nukus city and Takhtatash district, 1 bridge, and a new overpass on a 4-kilometer section of the "D 234 (4R176)" Nukus–Chimboy–Takhtakupyr highway will be built.

To improve the ecological situation, a "green belt" covering 15,000 hectares will be established around Nukus city from 2026 to 2030. Trees and shrubs will be planted on 3,000 hectares of this area.

These projects will be implemented under agreements between the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Asian Development Bank for the Karakalpakstan Republic development program, with $200 million attracted based on the results-based financing system (PforR) starting from 2027.
