An employee of the Tashkent Region Prosecutor's Office, a chief clerk, was detained by the State Security Service while accepting a $9,000 bribe. He demanded the money in exchange for quashing a 276 million soum fine against an entrepreneur in the Orta Chirchiq district.

The official requested the money be delivered to Namangan, where he is studying at a university. In a swift operation, State Security Service officers caught him red-handed in Namangan Region.

The Namangan Region Prosecutor's Office has initiated a criminal case under fraud and bribery articles of the Criminal Code and imposed pre-trial detention on the chief clerk.
