In the early hours of March 2, the Israeli military conducted a series of strikes against Hezbollah targets in Lebanon. The attack resulted in the death of Mohammed Raad, the leader of the organization's political wing, who headed the "Loyalty to the Resistance" parliamentary bloc in Lebanon's National Assembly.

At least ten people were killed in strikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut.

Prior to the operation, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced it had begun striking Hezbollah targets across Lebanon in response to rocket attacks on Israeli territory by the group.

The IDF later clarified it was conducting precision strikes against senior Hezbollah terrorists in the Beirut area. In a separate statement, the military reported eliminating one of the organization's leaders in southern Lebanon, though the name was not disclosed.

Mohammed Raad was an influential Lebanese politician who represented Hezbollah in parliament for over three decades. He was seen as a defender of Shiite community interests and a symbol of resistance against Israel. His role involved legitimizing the armed wing's actions at the state level and advancing the movement's interests in parliament.

Hezbollah is designated as a terrorist organization by the United States, Israel, the United Kingdom, and several other countries.

This incident occurred amid escalating military tensions in the Middle East, following a joint Israeli-U.S. operation against targets in Iran.
