Internet access in Iran has been completely blocked at a national level for over 37 consecutive days. According to data from the monitoring organization NetBlocks, this shutdown has lasted more than 864 hours, making it the longest nationwide internet blackout ever recorded.

NetBlocks emphasized that this case surpasses all previously documented internet disruptions worldwide in both scale and duration. While other countries have experienced temporary or regional outages, no complete national shutdown of this magnitude has been recorded before.

The restrictions were imposed by Iranian authorities following the start of a military campaign by the US and Israeli regimes. Officially, these measures are claimed to be aimed at preventing information attacks and attempts to destabilize the country internally, though their justification and impact remain highly controversial.

The organization also noted that the situation in North Korea cannot serve as a direct comparison, as that country is not effectively connected to the global internet. Iran's current situation thus stands as the longest recorded national disconnection from the worldwide web, highlighting significant challenges in digital access and information control.
