In the Samarkand region of Uzbekistan, a case of illegal natural gas usage has been uncovered at a poultry farm operated by the family enterprise S.I.D. in the "Shirinobod" neighborhood of Samarkand district. The violation was detected during a joint raid conducted by employees of the General Prosecutor's Office, along with specialists from "Hududgaz ta’minot" and "Uzenergoinspection".
Inspections revealed that the farm consumed "blue fuel" without project-technical documentation or a contract with the supplier, leading to substantial financial damage. After recalculating the volume of illegally used gas, the total damage exceeded 1.1 billion soms, highlighting the scale of the infraction.
Case materials have been handed over to law enforcement agencies for further investigation. This incident underscores ongoing issues with illegal energy resource usage in the country, as earlier reports indicated that such violations caused damages of around 196 billion soms in the first three months of 2026 alone.
Authorities described the raid as part of broader efforts to safeguard energy security and the economy, yet the recurrence of such cases suggests systemic challenges. Law enforcement continues to probe the matter, with the findings drawing public attention to resource mismanagement concerns.
