On February 21, a presidential decree was adopted, approving the socio-economic development program for the Republic of Karakalpakstan until 2026. According to the document, by 2026, Karakalpakstan's gross regional product will increase by 8.1%, and industrial production volume will grow by 8%.
Foreign direct investment will reach $3.5 billion, the unemployment rate will be reduced to 4.2%, and poverty to 3.2%. The city of Nukus, the districts of Kungrad and Chimbay, and 109 mahallas will be transformed into areas free from unemployment and poverty. 5,400 specialists will be retrained in high-demand professions.
In the "difficult" districts of Bozatov, Kanlikul, Muynak, and Shumanay, and in 90 mahallas with high poverty levels, poverty will be halved. By 2030, gross regional product is planned to reach 102.4 trillion soums, agricultural production 28.9 trillion soums, with $7.2 billion worth of projects implemented in industry and services, and exports increased to $900 million.
The share of renewable energy sources will reach 70%, and centralized drinking water supply for settlements will increase to 83.5%. Over $5 billion in foreign investment will be attracted to develop artificial intelligence technologies.
