Starting May 7, air conditioning systems in Tashkent's buses will be gradually activated, according to the state-owned company Toshshahartransxizmat.

The company stated that when the outside temperature exceeds +28°C, cooling systems in bus interiors must be turned on without fail, maintaining an interior temperature of +26°C.

Toshshahartransxizmat promised the following: buses with faulty air conditioners will not be allowed on routes; technical issues will be resolved promptly; all drivers will receive additional training on proper use of air conditioning.

"No passenger complaint will be ignored, and decisive measures will be taken. We apologize to passengers for any temporary inconvenience!" the company said in a statement.

The announcement followed social media complaints that not all buses in the capital had working air conditioners. Both Toshshahartransxizmat and the capital's Main Transport Department responded to the criticism.

The Transport Department noted that on April 30, an instruction letter was sent to all carriers stating that when outside temperatures exceed +28°C, the cooling system must operate continuously in all buses.

Carriers failing to comply with this requirement will face strict disciplinary and contractual measures, the department added.
