The construction of a new electrified railway line along the route “Nurafshan – Pskent – Buka – Bekabad – Boyovut – Yangiyer” has officially begun in the Tashkent region. The symbolic pile-driving ceremony took place simultaneously at two locations — the Urta Chirchik and Bekabad districts.
The new 110-kilometer transport artery is expected to give a strong boost to the region's economic development. The project is anticipated to create new jobs, expand transport and logistics services, and strengthen connections between districts. The event was attended by the governor of the Tashkent region, Zoyir Mirzaev, and the chairman of the board of Uzbekistan Railways, Zufar Narzullaev, while representatives from Bekabad joined via video link.
The project features an innovative design approach: the route bypasses populated areas and completely eliminates level crossings with highways. This will enhance traffic safety and minimize environmental impact. The construction plans include four railway stations, 21 overpasses, six bridges, and one traction substation.
Special attention is being paid to integrating the new line with existing infrastructure: in Bekabad, work is already underway on a connecting branch to the Bekabad free economic zone. Construction will proceed simultaneously from both ends — from Nurafshan and Bekabad toward each other. Upon completion, the region will gain a modern, safe, and environmentally friendly transport system that will significantly boost the country's transit potential.
