A traffic police officer from the Bukhara regional traffic safety department hit a 17-year-old girl on a pedestrian crossing in the Vobkent district. The accident occurred on April 27 at approximately 09:05 on I. Bukhari Street.

According to the traffic safety department, the girl was crossing the road at a designated pedestrian crossing and sustained minor injuries. The driver personally took the victim to the hospital for first aid.

The department noted that the officer was off duty at the time. He was sober and had all the necessary documents to drive. The district prosecutor's office is conducting a pre-investigation check.

The traffic safety department urged social media users not to spread false information that the incident is being covered up. A citizen who published unreliable messages is also under investigation.

Earlier, a fatal traffic accident occurred in the Andijan region. A truck hit a woman in a pedestrian crossing zone.
