The Uzbekistan men's field hockey team has successfully secured a berth for the 2026 Asian Games by performing well in a qualification tournament held in Bangkok, Thailand. This achievement grants the team the right to compete in the prestigious continental multi-sport event scheduled in Japan.
During the qualifying stage, the Uzbek team competed in a group with Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Chinese Taipei. Finishing second in the group phase, the team advanced to the semifinals, which proved sufficient to earn the qualification license for the Games.
However, in the semifinal match, the Uzbek team was defeated by Oman. The team will now continue to compete for third place in the tournament, providing an opportunity to assess its preparedness ahead of the Asian Games.
The 2026 Asian Games, officially known as the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, are set to take place in Japan from September 19 to October 4, 2026. The Uzbekistan team will continue its preparations to represent the country on this international stage.
