The Tashkent city administration and the administration of Yashnobod district have responded to social media reports about the demolition of trading stalls at the Aviasozlar market (popularly known as Kadishev market).
According to the Yashnobod district administration, the ongoing work does not affect the official trading stalls of the market. The issue concerns unauthorized trading points set up around the market and adjacent areas.
The district administration stated that some citizens were selling fruits and vegetables in the area without proper permits and in violation of sanitary and epidemiological requirements. Currently, efforts are underway to eliminate illegal trading points and relocate traders to specially designated areas.
Later, the Tashkent city administration also issued a statement, denying that the Aviasozlar market and its trading stalls were being demolished.
The city administration added that in the area adjacent to the market, meat products and offal were also being sold without permits and in violation of sanitary standards, alongside fruits and vegetables. The lack of quality control and necessary sanitary conditions posed a risk to food safety.
The administration also noted that the spontaneous trade hindered pedestrian and vehicle traffic, causing congestion, crowds, and unauthorized parking.
The city authorities said that individuals who were trading in the area have been offered legal spaces within the market.
According to the administration, after the work is completed, the area will be landscaped and greened, and a parking lot will be organized. This is expected to reduce unauthorized parking, make access safe and convenient, and ease the burden on nearby streets.
Earlier, due to fire safety violations, certain blocks of the Aviasozlar market, the Shaykhontohur district market, and the Chilonzor district market were closed.
