President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan congratulated professionals in the fields of culture and art on their professional holiday, celebrated on April 15. In his address, he emphasized that he was congratulating, through them, the entire nation that honors art. The head of state stated: “From the bottom of my heart, I congratulate you and, in your person, our entire people, who revere art, on the Day of Cultural and Art Workers. On this wonderful day, we express sincere gratitude for your selfless work to you—masters of arts, young performers, all workers in the field who faithfully serve the people with their unique talent, knowledge, and skill.”

In recent years, significant progress has been made in the development of the cultural sector in the country. Specifically, 2 theaters, 19 cultural centers, 16 museums, 20 music and art schools, and 5 higher education institutions have been established. Additionally, restoration work has been carried out on 125 historical and cultural heritage sites. 35 workers in the field have been provided with housing, and their salaries have increased by an average of 35 percent.

The President particularly noted the expansion of the country's participation in international artistic processes and the strengthening of its authority. A vivid example of this was the performance of the National Ballet of Uzbekistan on the stage of the Grosses Festspielhaus in Salzburg and on the stage of the Musikverein in Vienna with an opera piece dedicated to the 690th anniversary of Amir Timur.

Currently, pressing tasks include developing the sphere of culture and art as a means of spiritual education and an important branch of the creative economy, supporting the creative industry, promoting the market for cultural services, and expanding the export of products from the sector. To achieve these goals, a new Creative Industry Park is being established. The head of state emphasized that a high goal has been set—to increase the share of the creative economy in the gross domestic product to 5 percent by 2030.

The President expressed confidence that, thanks to the experience and talent of cultural workers, national culture will reach a new level. These initiatives are aimed at transforming the cultural sphere into an independent and developing sector of the economy.
