Law enforcement authorities in Uzbekistan have initiated an international search for 53-year-old Dilshod Akhmedov, the former head of the country's largest metallurgical enterprise, the Uzbek Metallurgical Plant Joint Stock Company. A request to locate and detain the former top manager has been published in the Interpol database.

Dilshod Akhmedov served as the head of the plant for ten months, from October 2024 to August 2025. According to data from the international organization, the investigation charges him with committing a crime under paragraph "a" of part 3 of Article 167 ("Embezzlement or misappropriation on an especially large scale") of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan. The sanction of this article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to ten years.

Currently, a "red notice" has been issued against the suspect. This means that the law enforcement agencies of all Interpol member countries have received instructions to detain the individual for subsequent extradition to Uzbekistan. This move is seen as part of ongoing efforts in Uzbekistan to combat corruption and financial crimes within key economic sectors, highlighting the challenges in governance and economic oversight.
