In Tashkent, on March 12, a disaster occurred at a construction site in the city center. The incident resulted in three workers dead and five individuals sustaining injuries of varying severity. Emergency services promptly arrived at the scene and transported the injured to the hospital.
Preliminary reports indicate that the disaster was caused by the collapse of a lifting mechanism during construction work. Representatives from the Tashkent city administration announced the formation of a special commission to investigate the incident. The commission aims to inspect compliance with safety regulations at the construction site and determine the causes of the disaster.
Parents and local residents who arrived at the disaster site expressed dissatisfaction with the authorities, as safety issues had been previously reported in this area. The mayor of Tashkent was informed of the incident and ordered assistance for the affected families and an acceleration of the investigation. Representatives of the construction company declined to comment.
This incident once again highlights safety problems in Uzbekistan's construction industry. In recent years, several disasters have occurred at construction sites across the country, indicating a need for stricter controls and legislation in this sector. Although the government has promised to take measures, practical results remain insufficient.
