Uzbekistan's Committee for Industrial, Radiation, and Nuclear Safety has approved updated rules for transporting radioactive objects within the republic. The new regulations introduce strict requirements for the packaging and transportation of such cargo, aimed at fully minimizing risks for service personnel, the civilian population, and the environment.

One of the key provisions of the document is a categorical ban on the joint transportation of radioactive materials with any other types of hazardous goods. Special attention is paid to protecting cargo from external factors: the rules strictly prohibit allowing moisture to come into contact with packages containing uranium or plutonium, as this could lead to unpredictable chemical reactions and compromise container integrity.

At the same time, the legislation provides certain exceptions for small volumes of specific substances. Transportation of materials is permitted without strict adherence to general radiation safety requirements in cases where the total mass of uranium or plutonium in a batch does not exceed 300 grams. In such instances, the content of the U-235 isotope in these objects must be no more than 1 percent.

These measures are designed to streamline logistics in the atomic and industrial sectors while ensuring a high level of control over the movement of hazardous components within the country. The implementation of these standards allows for the synchronization of national legislation with international norms of nuclear safety.
