In Tashkent, at the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) Palace of Culture, a press conference was held on the topic "Openness and Dialogue with the People – The Main Criterion: Analytical Report on the Activities of Internal Affairs Bodies for the First Quarter of 2026." The event was attended by ministry leadership, responsible employees, and media representatives.
Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Head of the Investigative Department Ramazon Ashropov presented detailed statistics for the first three months of 2026. In the country, 6,211 preventable crimes were committed, which is 596 cases fewer than the same period last year. Thanks to the initiative of department employees, 9,544 crimes were detected, which is 37% better than last year's indicators.
Significant work was carried out in the following areas: 4,080 criminal cases were initiated, 872 kg of narcotic substances (including 33 kg of synthetic drugs) and over 296,000 units of potent medications were seized. 670 crimes were detected, 80 criminal groups and 211 of their participants were detained. 1,076 crimes were detected, damage amounting to 199 billion 565 million soums was established, and measures are being taken to recover it.
Over 18,000 crimes using information and communication technologies (ICT) were recorded, 97% of which are related to theft of funds through electronic payment systems. Particular attention is paid to the situation in the regions: in the first quarter, crimes were not committed in 7,309 mahallas (neighborhoods), which is almost 81% of their total number. Among mahallas where offenses were recorded, 1,497 entered the "yellow" category, and 186 entered the "red" category.
The situation on the roads remains tense. Over three months, 1,102 road traffic accidents occurred in the republic. The main causes of accidents: speeding – 32.9%; ignoring traffic light signals – 22.4%; failure to yield to pedestrians – 13.6%; falling asleep at the wheel – 4.2%.
During the reporting period, over 100,000 citizen appeals were received into the MIA system, 68% of which were satisfied. In particular, territorial bodies positively resolved 64,352 issues. Work continues in the department to strengthen discipline: over three months, 60 cases were recorded where employees refused offered bribes and reported this to the Internal Security Service. An increase in the role of women in the system is also noted: in March alone, 53 female employees were appointed to leadership positions.
Unfortunately, the service is associated with risk: in 2026, 10 employees were killed while performing official duties, and 39 were injured. For courage and professionalism, 11 employees were awarded state awards, and over 25,000 were encouraged by departmental orders.
