Construction of a new 650-megawatt combined-cycle power unit is progressing at the Navoi Thermal Power Plant (TPP) in the Navoi region. According to Uzbekistan's Ministry of Energy, once operational, the project will generate 4.8 billion kWh of electricity and 200 Gcal of thermal energy annually, enabling savings of 870 million cubic meters of natural gas per year.
Currently, over 2,400 specialists are involved in the construction works. The majority are local personnel, with foreign engineering and technical experts also engaged in technical tasks. Additionally, more than 200 units of specialized machinery are deployed at the site.
The project includes the erection of administrative buildings and the installation of gas and steam turbines, generators, a heat recovery steam generator, a cooling tower, and other primary and auxiliary structures. The facility is being equipped with modern machinery from Japan, China, India, and South Korea.
The general contractor for the project is a consortium of Japanese companies "Mitsubishi Corporation" and "Mitsubishi Power Ltd.", with the Turkish company "Çalık Enerji" serving as a subcontractor. This project is deemed crucial for enhancing the country's energy security and ensuring stable electricity supply to the population and economic sectors.
