President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will join the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council scheduled for May 29 in Kazakhstan. The republic will participate in the expanded format of the summit as one of the key observer states.

The agenda includes issues of further development of trade and economic ties, expansion of cooperation, and removal of barriers in mutual trade. Leaders are expected to discuss practical steps for market integration and simplification of customs procedures.

The summit will begin with a closed-door session involving leaders of the Eurasian Economic Union member states: Russian President Vladimir Putin, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, and Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan. Later, representatives of observer and partner states will join, including Cuban Vice President Salvador Valdés Mesa and Iranian Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade Mohammad Atabak.

Earlier, the Uzbek leader visited Azerbaijan to attend the opening ceremony of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum in Baku.
