A court in Russia has sentenced a citizen of Uzbekistan to 12 years in prison for recruiting and aiding terrorist activities. The man was found guilty of involvement with the banned organization “Katibat Tawhid wal-Jihad”.

Investigators established that the convict used his bank details and phone number to collect funds intended for purchasing weapons, ammunition, and equipment for militants. Additionally, in March 2024, he allegedly attempted to recruit another person into the organization.

During operational measures, it was also recorded that the man requested a transfer of 10,000 rubles to his card for subsequent delivery to representatives of the terrorist structure. The court deemed the collected evidence sufficient to impose a lengthy prison term.

Earlier, a 33-year-old female citizen of Uzbekistan received 15 years in a strict-regime colony for aiding in the financing of militants of the international terrorist community “Katibat Tawhid wal-Jihad”.
