An Australian man accused of killing 15 people in an antisemitic mass shooting at Sydney's Bondi Beach faces 19 additional charges, court officials said on Wednesday. The attack occurred during a Hanukkah celebration in December 2025.
Naveed A., 24, was already charged with 59 counts, including attempted murder and committing a terrorist act. The new charges include 10 counts of shooting with intent to murder, wounding with intent to murder, and six counts of discharging a firearm with intent to resist arrest.
The massacre, described as Australia's worst alleged terrorist attack and deadliest mass shooting in three decades, prompted a flurry of gun law reforms. Police said the shooting was inspired by the Islamic State (IS) group.
Victims included an 87-year-old Holocaust survivor, a couple who confronted the attackers, and a 10-year-old girl. Police documents revealed the father-son duo had conducted firearms training and meticulously planned the attack for months, recording a video in October railing against "Zionists" while sitting in front of an IS flag.
Naveed A. is held in a high-security prison and has not yet entered a plea. He was due to appear in Sydney's Downing Center Local Court via video link on Wednesday for a procedural hearing on a gag order protecting victims' identities.
