President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has departed for the city of Bukhara, as reported by the presidential press service. The primary objective of this visit is to hold high-level negotiations in Bukhara during the working visit of Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Uzbekistan on April 11.

The negotiations will focus on further developing friendly, strategic partnership, and alliance relations between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. Special attention is to be given to strengthening political dialogue, inter-parliamentary, intergovernmental, and interregional ties.

Akorda also announced the head of state’s visit to Uzbekistan and an “informal meeting” with Shavkat Mirziyoyev. According to the press service, “…discussion of pressing issues of regional significance is planned.”

The leaders will discuss, from Uzbekistan’s perspective, increasing trade turnover, deepening industrial cooperation, advancing joint projects and programs in transport, energy, water, and ecology sectors, as well as activating cultural and humanitarian exchanges.

Additionally, joint visits to historical monuments, familiarization with industrial enterprise activities, and a product exhibition are planned. Today, Mirziyoyev will also review ongoing works and prospective projects for the socio-economic development of the Bukhara region.
