️ Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev strongly condemned a drone attack on the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, labeling it a planned terrorist act. The head of state claimed that the drones were launched from Iranian territory, targeting exclusively civilian infrastructure: an international airport, a terminal building, and a school.

️ "This is a treacherous shelling and a dirty terrorist act. We expect not only explanations but also official apologies from Tehran," Aliyev stated, demanding punishment for those responsible. In response to the incident, Baku placed its army, border guards, and special forces on full combat alert, with armed forces ordered to prepare a package of retaliatory measures, potentially escalating regional tensions.

️ Iran categorically denies the accusations. State media and the country's Foreign Ministry assert that Iranian military forces did not strike Azerbaijan and have no connection to a missile intercepted over Turkish airspace. This denial sets the stage for further diplomatic friction and possible conflict escalation in the volatile region.

️ Previously, Azerbaijan accused Iran of attacking civilian infrastructure in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. According to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, on March 5, Iranian drones struck the terminal building of Nakhchivan International Airport, with another drone falling near a school in the village of Shakerabad. The incident resulted in injuries to two civilians, who received medical assistance.

️ Later, Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov held a telephone conversation with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, expressing serious concern over the Iranian drone attacks on Nakhchivan, highlighting Uzbekistan's cautious stance amid growing regional instability.
