️ Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held a telephone conversation to discuss the incident involving a drone attack on the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The ministers expressed serious concern over the event and emphasized the unacceptability of actions that contradict international law principles and violate the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states.
️ It was previously reported that two civilians were injured as a result of drone strikes on Nakhchivan. According to the press service of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, one drone hit the building of the airport terminal in the Nakhchivan autonomy, while another fell near a school in the village of Shekerabad. The Azerbaijani foreign ministry issued a statement regarding the incident.
️ The statement said: "We strongly condemn the drone attacks carried out from Iranian territory, which caused damage to the airport building and injured two civilians." It also noted: "We demand that Iran clarify this issue as soon as possible, provide explanations, and take necessary measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents."
️ It was emphasized that Iran's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Azerbaijan, Mojtaba Demirchilou, has been summoned to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where a strong protest will be expressed and a note will be handed over to the Iranian side. However, media reports indicate that Iran, in turn, has denied launching drones towards Azerbaijan.
️ According to a statement from the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, "The Islamic Republic of Iran, respecting the sovereignty of all states, especially Muslim and neighboring countries, denies the launch of an unmanned aerial vehicle by the armed forces in the direction of the Republic of Azerbaijan." It was noted that based on an investigation conducted by the Iranian side, such actions could have been undertaken with the aim of accusing Iran.
