A powerful explosion at a fireworks factory in China's Hunan province has killed 21 people and injured around 60 others, local authorities reported.

The blast occurred in a workshop of Huasheng Fireworks Manufacturing and Display Ltd. in Liuyang county, Changsha city. The cause of the explosion is still under investigation.

On May 5, Changsha city officials held a press conference, stating that the best medical resources have been mobilized to treat the injured. Each patient is receiving individualized consultations and close monitoring, allowing doctors to promptly adjust treatment methods and ensure meticulous care.

A special task force has been established to support the families of the deceased and injured. Operating on a "one family, one team" principle, it provides targeted assistance and a direct mechanism to address all arising issues.
