US President Donald Trump has officially ruled out the possibility of using nuclear weapons in a military conflict with Iran. Speaking to reporters at the White House, the American leader dismissed the question of a nuclear strike on Tehran as "stupid" and inappropriate.
Trump emphasized that his administration adheres to humanitarian principles and advocates that nuclear weapons should never be used by any state. "Why would I need that? Nuclear weapons should never be allowed to be used by anyone," he stated.
Despite excluding the nuclear scenario, the president noted that the United States possesses overwhelming military superiority. In his view, if the conflict escalates into a hot phase, it will not be prolonged and will end quickly.
Trump also added that political uncertainty in Iran hinders diplomatic resolution, as Washington is sometimes unclear about who is making key decisions in Tehran.
On February 28, Israeli forces attacked military targets in Iran, confirmed by Defense Minister Israel Katz as a preventive measure. Later, President Trump officially confirmed the start of a large-scale military operation against Iran in coordination with Israel.
The situation in the Middle East has entered a phase of large-scale military confrontation. After the joint US-Israeli operation, Tehran launched a massive retaliatory strike affecting not only Israel but also neighboring Arab states.
One of the most critical flashpoints is the Strait of Hormuz, a key global artery for oil transport. During the escalation, Iran repeatedly blocked ship passages, using this as leverage on the global economy. The situation in the strait remains unstable.
