Reza Pahlavi, the son of Iran's last shah and an opposition politician, was doused with a red liquid in Berlin after a press conference, according to Deutsche Welle.
The incident occurred on April 23 in the government district of the German capital. As Pahlavi exited the Federal Press Conference building, a man approached him from behind and splashed the liquid onto his back.
Law enforcement officers detained the assailant. The motives behind the attack have not been disclosed.
The politician reportedly was not injured and continued his scheduled program in Berlin without changes. During his visit, Pahlavi met with the chairman of the Bundestag's Foreign Affairs Committee, participated in a cross-party parliamentary roundtable, spoke at a rally attended by thousands of Iranians, held meetings with young parliamentarians, gave interviews to journalists, and engaged with representatives of the Iranian diaspora.
