οΈ As part of Uzbekistan's pharmaceutical industry development program, 16 investment projects totaling $203 million are planned for implementation in the Andijan region. A key project will be a $30 million facility for producing human albumin from blood plasma, which will become the first enterprise of its kind in the history of the country's pharmaceutical sector.
οΈ During a video conference chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, it was also announced that the Syrdarya region is set to attract $188 million in investment projects this year. Among the priorities is export development, with plans to supply $50 million worth of medicines to the Afghan market.
οΈ However, the meeting highlighted insufficient utilization of potential in several other regions. Investment proposals from the heads of Navoi, Kashkadarya, and Surkhandarya regions failed to reach even $100 million, indicating a need to revise approaches to project portfolio formation in these areas.
οΈ In response, responsible agencies have been instructed to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the economic efficiency of plans submitted by the regions, launch a rehabilitation program for enterprises operating below capacity or held on bank balance sheets, and accelerate the practical implementation of approved initiatives aimed at reducing import dependency.
