President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan reviewed the results of the country's accession process to the World Trade Organization (WTO) for 2025 and outlined tasks to complete the procedure.

The head of state instructed that all necessary measures be taken to secure full membership in the organization by 2026. This marks a significant milestone in Uzbekistan's international economic integration.

Over the past year, Uzbekistan achieved notable progress in negotiations. Two meetings of the Working Group were held, during which partners were presented with answers to 200 questions and over 30 documents on foreign trade. In 2025, bilateral negotiations were concluded with 11 more countries, bringing the total number of states supporting Uzbekistan's accession to 33.

A key stage was the harmonization of national legislation with international norms: in 2025, 68 regulatory legal acts were brought into compliance with WTO requirements. Procedures for registering intellectual property objects were simplified, and liability for violations in this area was strengthened.

Export restrictions were abolished, and the practice of setting minimum export prices for certain types of products was eliminated. A large-scale reform to reduce technical barriers was carried out: mandatory certification for 747 product items was canceled, and the corresponding list was reduced by 27 percent.

Control over food safety was transferred to the Committee for Sanitary-Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health. The presentation also discussed draft laws on food safety and trade protection measures.

The president emphasized the need to systematically continue work to bring all norms of foreign economic activity into full compliance with global trade standards to expedite the accession process.
