In New York, Uzbekistan's Permanent Representative to the UN Ulugbek Lapasov and the head of Guinea-Bissau's UN mission Samba Sane signed a joint communiqué on establishing diplomatic relations, reported the Dunyo news agency.

The parties expressed interest in strengthening cooperation within international organizations, including the UN and its specialized agencies. They agreed to intensify collaboration in identifying mutually beneficial areas of bilateral ties.

Guinea-Bissau, a West African nation, became the 168th country with which Uzbekistan has established diplomatic relations. The country borders Senegal to the north, Guinea to the east and southeast, and is washed by the Atlantic Ocean to the west.

Earlier, in Antalya, a document was signed on establishing diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Rwanda.
