Uzbekistan's cotton harvest reached 3.5 million tons in 2024, marking an 8% increase compared to the previous year. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, this achievement was driven by the adoption of modern technologies and improvements in irrigation systems.
The Fergana Valley and Kashkadarya region led in cotton production, contributing over 40% of the total yield. Experts attribute this growth to climate change and rising international demand, but emphasize the need for additional investments to ensure sustainability.
The government is focusing on diversifying the cotton industry and producing additional high-value products. However, challenges persist, including low wages for agricultural workers and environmental issues, which could hinder future growth.
