Uzbekistan's cotton harvest in 2024 is approaching historically high levels, reflecting positive outcomes from ongoing agricultural reforms in the country. According to state statistics, the cotton yield this season is expected to exceed 3.5 million tons, an 8% increase compared to last year. This growth has been primarily driven by the adoption of modern irrigation technologies and efficient management of cotton fields.

Government officials have linked these achievements to the continuous process of agricultural reforms, including granting more independence to farm enterprises and expanding export opportunities. Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Kuchkarov stated, "The successes in the cotton sector are crucial for strengthening our country's economic independence and improving living standards in rural areas." However, some experts have raised questions about the sustainability of this growth and its environmental impacts.

The high cotton harvest results are helping to solidify Uzbekistan's position in the global cotton market, but challenges such as labor issues and resource efficiency persist in this sector. The government has announced plans to diversify cotton farming and promote sustainable agricultural development in the coming years, indicating a continuation of the country's agrarian policy.
