The Economic Court of Surkhandarya Region has ruled in a case concerning the protection of trademark rights for German companies Hugo Boss AG and Puma SE, as well as the Dutch firm Tommy Hilfiger Licensing B.V. The court session, held on April 1, 2026, examined the claims filed by representatives of these international brands against a local entity.
The court established that the defendant had engaged in the unauthorized use of the international brands' trademarks without concluding licensing agreements, distributed counterfeit products, and actively promoted them. This practice constituted a significant infringement of the brand owners' intellectual property rights under Uzbek law.
In its ruling, the court ordered the violator to cease all illegal use of the trademarks, seize and destroy all counterfeit goods, and remove unlawfully applied markings from products and packaging. Compensation of 61.8 million Uzbek soums was awarded in favor of the companies, along with state duties, postal fees, and court costs, bringing the total recovery to over 111 million soums.
The Ministry of Justice reminded entrepreneurs that upon detecting instances of illegal brand use, they should contact the hotline "1008" or email
