Over four weeks, the Uklon team and its partner drivers implemented a series of charitable initiatives in Tashkent, with a total investment of 250 million Uzbek soums. The core mechanism involved a simple process: users left tips after rides, which were fully retained by the drivers, and the company then doubled this amount, directing the funds toward charitable projects. This approach aimed to seamlessly integrate everyday actions with social support.
The initiatives were rolled out in four phases. The first phase saw the organization of hot meals at the "Mehr Sakhovat" rehabilitation center, carried out in collaboration with Food For Life and coordinated by the Association of Volunteers. The second phase involved distributing 75 food packages containing essential goods and hygiene items to low-income families, in partnership with the Ona Foundation.
The third phase focused on supporting municipal cleaning staff, with 280 female workers receiving food packages as recognition for their daily efforts in maintaining city cleanliness. The final phase included the donation of interactive whiteboards to specialized boarding schools, including institutions for children with hearing impairments. This equipment was delivered not only to Tashkent but also to regions such as Kokand, Jizzakh, and Kashkadarya.
Eduard Kovtun, General Manager of Uklon in Uzbekistan, commented: "We wanted to create a simple and understandable mechanism where help arises from a routine action – a ride. In the end, we managed to combine support for drivers and charitable initiatives in one system." The active involvement of partner drivers was highlighted as a key factor in the project's success, emphasizing community-driven efforts.
Uklon expressed gratitude to the Association of Volunteers, the Ona Foundation, the Food For Life team, the Tashkent City Department of Internal Affairs, and the Social Protection Agency for their contributions and support in realizing these initiatives. Additional thanks went to advertising partners Advicmode and Kontora. Uklon is an IT service company and developer of the eponymous online ride-hailing service. Since April 2025, 97% of its corporate rights have been owned by Kyivstar, Ukraine's largest electronic communications operator, which is part of the international VEON group.
