On April 7, prominent Uzbek statesman and public figure Vyacheslav Arkadevich Golishev passed away at the age of 75. He had served for many years as a state advisor to the president. Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and other high-ranking officials expressed condolences to the family and close ones of the deceased.
Vyacheslav Golishev was born on May 4, 1951, in Omsk, Russia. In 1972, he graduated from the Tashkent Institute of National Economy (now Tashkent State University of Economics) with a degree in economics, and in 1980, he completed his postgraduate studies at Moscow State University, defending his candidate's dissertation.
He began his career as an economist in the printing industry, later working at the Tashkent Institute of National Economy, the Research Institute of Economics and Standards under the State Planning Committee of Uzbekistan, and in various positions in republican party and state bodies.
From 1992 to 1995, Golishev served as deputy director of the Institute of World Problems under the President of Uzbekistan and first deputy chairman of the State Committee for Forecasting and Statistics. In 2005–2006, he worked as deputy prime minister, minister of economy, and head of the complex for economic and foreign economic relations issues.
Vyacheslav Golishev held the position of state advisor to the president for many years and was directly involved in developing state programs and conceptual documents on the country's socio-economic policy. He was elected as a deputy of the Oliy Majlis several times and was awarded the honorary title "Honored Economist of the Republic of Uzbekistan" and the "Dustlik" (Friendship) Order.
