️ Uzbekistan is planning to introduce life imprisonment for individuals who repeatedly commit crimes against the sexual integrity of minors. This was announced by Nodira Hakimova, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration for Judicial System Reform, in an interview with the "Uzbekistan 24"... TV channel.
️ According to her, the corresponding measures are outlined in a presidential decree aimed at strengthening the protection of women's and children's rights. "We all observe that the public is showing initiative on this issue, and our president has specified in the decree that this should be reflected in our legislation," Hakimova stated.
️ She emphasized that the issue of not transferring those convicted of such crimes to colony-settlements was also separately discussed. "Last year, we all witnessed horrific crimes, and it can be said that the entire society was shaken. The fact is that recidivist pedophiles, after being released from colony-settlements, again committed crimes against the honor of our underage girls," she said.
️ The discussion refers to a 31-year-old colony-settlement convict who in October 2025 escaped from work at a local enterprise and raped a 9-year-old girl. The court sentenced him to 18 years of imprisonment, recognizing him as a particularly dangerous recidivist. This individual had been serving a sentence since 2018 for a crime involving the rape of a child.
️ Hakimova noted that such crimes fall into the category of the most serious offenses. "Why don't we transfer them to colony-settlements? Why are we now applying life imprisonment to pedophile recidivists? Because these crimes can be equated with the most serious crimes, such as intentional murder. These are crimes that lead to the destruction of an entire little girl's life. Therefore, it is precisely such decisive reforms that our president has specified in his decrees," she declared.
️ It is recalled that by presidential decree, it has been instructed to prepare a draft law within three months on establishing punishment in case of the following crimes committed by individuals previously convicted for crimes against the sexual freedom of minors, sexual intercourse with them, and lewd acts.
️ Additionally, it is planned to establish stricter liability for committing lewd acts against a person under 16 years of age by a group of individuals, as well as to introduce clarifications to the disposition of Article 129 of the Criminal Code (lewd acts against a minor) based on investigative and judicial practice.
