Air Quality (AQI)

Residents of the capital and Tashkent region have faced a temporary deterioration in environmental conditions. Since yesterday, a relatively cold air flow has entered the region, leading to stagnant atmospheric masses due to almost complete absence of wind.

The main cause of the situation is a sharp temperature fluctuation: at night, thermometers dropped to +3…+5 degrees Celsius, while during the day, the air warmed to +11…+15 degrees. These conditions contributed to morning fog formation and temperature inversion. As a result, air exchange slowed in the ground-level atmospheric layers, creating a barrier to the natural dispersion of pollutants.

Currently, an increase in the concentration of fine particulate matter PM2.5 and PM10 in the air has been recorded in Tashkent and the region. The city is under the influence of a cool air mass, and with no precipitation observed, the accumulation of dust and combustion products continues.

Meteorologists provide an optimistic forecast: precipitation is expected in the region tomorrow. Rain should cleanse the atmosphere and contribute to a significant improvement in air quality indicators, returning them to normative values.
