A court in the Mingbulak district of Namangan region has convicted a master electrician from the Regional Electric Networks company for negligence that led to a two-year-old child suffering severe injuries. The court ruling is in the possession of Podrobno.uz.
The tragedy occurred in November 2025 when the toddler entered an unlocked transformer substation and received a high-voltage electric shock. The child sustained third- and fourth-degree burns, resulting in the amputation of both arms and a loss of over one-third of working capacity.
During the trial, the defendant pleaded guilty and expressed remorse, stating he had provided assistance to the victim's family. The court found him guilty under Article 207 of the Criminal Code (“Negligence resulting in grave consequences”) and sentenced him to two years of correctional labor with partial wage deduction to the state. He was also banned from holding his position for three years.
The family received financial aid: 60 million soums from the district power grid and 50 million soums from the local administration.
This is not an isolated incident; previously, a child was electrocuted at a preschool in Fergana.
