In the Termez district of Surkhandarya region, authorities have thwarted another attempt to illegally import drugs. A foreign national was found to have more than 200 grams of opium concealed inside his body.

The special operation was carried out by officers of the anti-smuggling department of the Surkhandarya customs, together with the State Security Service and border troops. During the operation at the Termez International Trade Center, a 27-year-old citizen of a neighboring country came under surveillance.

It was established that he had hidden three plastic bags containing the prohibited substance in his rectum. In the presence of witnesses, the bags were opened, revealing opium with a total weight of 203 grams.

On the same day, operational activities continued: law enforcement officers detained a 40-year-old man who was supposed to receive the drugs.

Currently, a pre-investigation check is being conducted by customs authorities. This is not an isolated case of drug smuggling using this method. Earlier, customs officers in the Samarkand region detained two female smugglers who used themselves as "living containers" to transport drugs.
