️ The administration of US President Donald Trump is allegedly secretly preparing criminal charges against Venezuela's interim president, Delcy Rodríguez, who assumed the position after the abduction of Nicolás Maduro. Reuters reported this based on four informed sources. ️ According to the... agency's interlocutors, federal prosecutors are purportedly preparing charges for corruption and money laundering and have already verbally warned Rodríguez of potential prosecution if she does not continue to comply with Trump's demands after Maduro's ouster. ️ The draft charges have reportedly been under preparation by the Miami prosecutor's office for the past two months, Reuters sources clarified. The investigation is linked to Rodríguez's alleged involvement in laundering funds from the state oil company PDVSA and covers the period from 2021 to 2025. ️ US officials have supposedly presented Rodríguez with a list of at least seven former high-ranking officials, their associates, and family members. The US is demanding their arrest in Venezuela or detention for subsequent extradition. ️ The US Department of Justice, the White House, and the State Department did not respond to Reuters' inquiry. US Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, commenting on the agency's report summary, called it "absolute falsehood." ️ Delcy Rodríguez became Venezuela's interim president on the night of January 3 after Nicolás Maduro was captured by US military forces. The politician and his wife, Cilia Flores, were taken to New York. US officials accuse Maduro of conspiring for narcoterrorism, importing cocaine, and storing weapons and explosive devices for use against the US. ️ Donald Trump then purportedly announced that the US would "manage" Venezuela "until a safe, orderly, and lawful transfer of power is achieved" and would take control of the country's oil reserves. ️ Trump allegedly demanded that Rodríguez provide "full access to oil and other resources to rebuild their country" and threatened that if she does not "behave correctly," she could face a fate worse than Maduro's.
