️ According to Reuters, the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump is secretly preparing criminal charges against Venezuela's interim president, Delcy Rodriguez. This follows Rodriguez's assumption of the position after the abduction of Nicolás Maduro.
️ Federal prosecutors are allegedly... drafting charges related to corruption and money laundering, and have reportedly verbally warned Rodriguez that he could face prosecution if he fails to comply with Trump's demands after Maduro's ouster.
️ The charging document has been under preparation by the Miami U.S. Attorney's Office for the past two months. The investigation purportedly focuses on Rodriguez's potential involvement in laundering funds from the state oil company PDVSA, covering the period from 2021 to 2025.
️ U.S. officials have provided Rodriguez with a list of at least seven former high-ranking officials, their allies, and family members. The U.S. regime is demanding their arrest in Venezuela or detention for future extradition.
️ The U.S. Department of Justice, White House, and State Department did not respond to Reuters' inquiries. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, commenting on the agency's report, called it "absolutely false."
️ Delcy Rodriguez became Venezuela's interim president on the night of January 3 after Nicolás Maduro was captured by U.S. military forces. The politician and his wife, Cilia Flores, were taken to New York. U.S. officials accuse Maduro of conspiring to commit narco-terrorism, importing cocaine, and storing weapons and explosives for use against the United States.
️ Donald Trump subsequently announced that the U.S. regime would "manage" Venezuela until "a safe, orderly, and lawful transfer of power is ensured," and would also take control of the country's oil reserves.
️ Trump demanded that Rodriguez provide "full access to oil and other resources to rebuild their country" and threatened that if he does not "behave correctly," he could face a fate worse than Maduro's.
