A former student opened fire inside a vocational high school in Siverek, Sanliurfa province, Turkey, in a random shooting incident. The attacker, born in 2007, used a pump-action shotgun to fire indiscriminately in the corridor. According to officials, 16 people were injured, including 10 students, four teachers, a canteen employee, and a police officer.

Governor Hasan Sildak stated that five of the injured teachers and students were transferred to a hospital in the regional capital due to the severity of their wounds. After being cornered by police, the attacker took his own life. Witness footage from the school showed students fleeing in panic through corridors and onto the streets, with videos capturing the assailant moving through the building while firing.

In an interview with the state-run Anadolu Agency, one student described escaping by jumping out of a classroom window: "He suddenly entered the classroom and fired. He didn't say anything. He fired four or five times. Two people were hit. He then went into the next classroom." The motive for the shooting remains unclear, though media reports suggest the suspect may have posted threats on social media prior to the attack.

Police described the shooting as an isolated incident and confirmed that the school has been secured. Governor Sildak announced that a "comprehensive" investigation is now underway. While school shootings are rare in Turkey, where gun laws are strict and penalties for illegal possession are severe, this event highlights ongoing security challenges in educational settings.
