US President Donald Trump has issued a harsh ultimatum to Iran, demanding the full opening of the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours. The White House leader threatened to destroy Iranian power plants, starting with the largest energy infrastructure facilities, if the demands are not met. This tough stance escalated tensions following Tehran's statements about not allowing "a single liter of oil" through the strait.

In response to Trump's threats, a representative of the Iranian armed forces' central headquarters "Khatam al-Anbiya" stated that any attack on Iran's energy system would provoke a retaliatory strike against all American energy, information, and desalination infrastructure in the region. This highlights a confrontation that could lead to further escalation and regional instability.

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical global transport artery, handling 20-30% of the world's seaborne oil exports and a significant portion of liquefied natural gas (LNG). The blockade of this route has already caused a sharp spike in energy prices on global markets. According to Pentagon intelligence assessments, Iran is capable of keeping the strait closed for one to six months.

Previously, Donald Trump allegedly claimed on his Truth Social platform that the US had "wiped Iran off the map" weeks earlier than scheduled and added that he is not interested in a deal that Tehran purportedly wants to conclude. Regarding shipping security, the White House's position remains inconsistent: initially, Trump promised military escort for vessels, but later stated that responsibility for safety should lie with countries whose economies directly depend on this route.
