President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation of proposals aimed at improving service quality and safety for passengers in the Tashkent Metro, as well as enhancing the efficiency of infrastructure use. This was reported by the president's press service.
The presentation discussed issues of updating rolling stock and constructing an electric depot. Proposals will be developed for the procurement of required rolling stock for the metro for 2027−2030. In this regard, a land plot will be allocated for the construction of an electric depot for the new rolling stock.
Additionally, a strategy for the development of the Tashkent Metro for 2027−2035 is to be formulated. It will cover tasks such as doubling the metro network, increasing passenger traffic by 2.5 times, creating an environmentally sustainable, energy-efficient, and safe transport system, and further improving service quality and passenger convenience.
Proposals were also made to improve the fare collection system. Based on foreign experience, the possibilities of introducing distance-based payment, discounts for population categories, and daily, weekly, and monthly subscription systems will be studied.
Furthermore, the introduction of a Park&Ride system was proposed to ensure a convenient transition from road transport to the metro.
The president emphasized that public transport, especially the metro, is one of the most important infrastructures in the life of a major city. Therefore, the need to develop service quality, safety, financial stability, and modern management in an interconnected manner was noted. Approving the presented proposals, the head of state gave instructions to responsible officials for their implementation.
