The State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan has released its industrial production report for January–March 2026. Natural gas extraction totaled 9.6 billion cubic meters, a decrease of 1.7 billion cubic meters (15%) compared to the same period in 2025 and 2 billion cubic meters (17.2%) less than in 2024.
In March 2026 alone, gas production was 2.7 billion cubic meters, down 1.2 billion cubic meters (30.8%) year-on-year. Gas exports fell 61% to $36.7 million, while imports surged 2.2 times to approximately $360.5 million.
Under the Uzbekistan-2030 strategy, annual gas production is targeted at 40.2 billion cubic meters in 2026, 1.5 billion cubic meters (3.6%) less than in 2025. Projections for subsequent years: 2027 – 42.9 billion (+6.7%), 2028 – 44.5 billion (+3.7%), 2029 – 45.5 billion (+2.2%), 2030 – 48.5 billion (+6.6%).
Oil extraction fell from 160,800 tons to 157,300 tons (-1.8%), and gas condensate output dropped from 296,600 tons to 242,300 tons (-18.3%). Conversely, diesel fuel production rose 54.3% to 280,900 tons, and gasoline output increased 2.9% to 313,200 tons.
Total electricity generation grew from 21.9 billion kWh to 22.9 billion kWh. However, large enterprises saw a 7.5% decline, while small businesses boosted output by 49%.
Automobile production reached 108,769 units in Q1 2026, up 11,495 units (11.8%) from the same period in 2025. Growth was recorded across all models except Damas, Onix, and Cherry.
