Customs officials in the Bukhara region of Uzbekistan have thwarted two attempts to illegally import jewelry with a total value exceeding 501 million soms. The violations were detected at the "Alat" border checkpoint and at Bukhara Airport.

In the first case, at the "Alat" checkpoint, inspectors grew suspicious of a citizen who arrived on foot from Turkmenistan. During an in-depth inspection using modern scanning equipment, it was discovered that the foreign national was attempting to covertly transport 310 grams of precious items.

The second incident was recorded at Bukhara Airport. Among the personal belongings of a passenger arriving from Turkey, 108.3 grams of jewelry were found, the volume of which significantly exceeded the duty-free import allowances.

Currently, all the jewelry has been seized for temporary storage, and pre-investigation checks are being conducted by customs authorities regarding both cases.
