Uzbekistan, Tashkent – AN Podrobno.uz. Internet fraud, data theft, account hacking, and attacks on information systems have become a daily reality, significantly complicating the investigation process and legal qualification. In Navoi, a specialized training course for criminal judges was held, focusing on the specifics of adjudicating such crimes.
Participants—20 judges and court chairpersons from the region—concentrated on the most complex aspects, ranging from working with digital evidence to investigating crimes on the darknet. Particular attention was paid to blockchain technologies and crypto-assets, which require the judiciary to have deep knowledge of digital forensics.
The event was organized by the OSCE Project Coordinator in Uzbekistan in collaboration with the Law Enforcement Academy as part of a project to develop national capacity to counter cyber threats. During the sessions, issues of international cooperation in investigating cross-border cybercrimes and the admissibility of digital evidence in court, while respecting human rights, were discussed.
This training is a continuation of a series of educational events: a similar course was previously held in Samarkand, and in the coming months, training will cover judges in Andijan, Bukhara, Gulistan, Jizzakh, Nukus, and Khiva.
It is recalled that earlier in Uzbekistan, medical personnel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs system and forensic experts were trained to document torture facts according to international standards.
