️ The Tashkent city administration has announced the removal of commercial kiosks located at bus stops in the capital, as part of efforts to regulate and modernize public transport infrastructure. An audit was conducted to assess the condition of stops across the city. ️ In the initial phase,... over 360 bus stops and 190 intersections along a 100 km road section were inspected. The audit revealed 110 commercial facilities operating within public transport stop areas. ️ Of these, 61 facilities reportedly lacked proper documentation to confirm ownership or usage rights for the stop areas. They are set to undergo legal evaluation and face appropriate measures, according to the administration. ️ Under the city administration's decision, all bus stops will be upgraded, and commercial points will be removed from their premises. A compensation mechanism is planned for licensed entrepreneurs, involving the allocation of alternative locations. ️ The administration cited international practices, stating that modern bus stop concepts require the absence of commercial objects to ensure free and safe waiting for passengers, adequate platform width, and an inclusive environment. ️ This move is part of the "Critical 90 Days" initiative launched earlier by the capital's authorities to improve road conditions, which includes traffic reorganization, prioritizing public transport, updating traffic lights, and road repairs. ️ Last week, YHTEM presented projects addressing congestion and public transport issues to Saida Mirziyoyeva, head of the Presidential Administration. Mirziyoyeva purportedly emphasized personal oversight of the capital's transport system modernization process. ️ In the summer of 2025, the Competition Committee conducted selective inspections of 2,800 bus stops across Uzbekistan, finding that most lacked lighting, signs, ramps, and other amenities. The committee issued directives to the Ministry of Transport and local administrations to address these deficiencies.
