Uzbekistan's Ministry of Health has approved an updated procedure for providing free medicines to the population under the reimbursement program, effective January 1, 2027. The new list includes 69 drug names, a significant expansion from the current 28 medications provided free of charge in polyclinics.

The expanded list includes vital drugs for treating oncological, mental, cardiovascular, and endocrine diseases. The program also covers medications for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), gastrointestinal tract diseases, and other pathologies. Specific items include various forms of insulin, blood pressure medications, antipsychotics, painkillers, and drugs for chronic kidney and liver diseases.

Special attention is paid to targeted assistance for the most vulnerable patient categories. Children under 15 diagnosed with type 1 diabetes are guaranteed all necessary medications. Additionally, patients diagnosed with sclerosing panencephalitis now have access to specialized drugs from the approved list.

The assistance mechanism remains digital: patients need to visit a family doctor, who will issue an electronic prescription upon diagnosing a disease from the approved list. With this prescription, citizens can receive the necessary medications free of charge at pharmacies that have contracts with the State Medical Insurance Fund. The reimbursement system is planned to be fully implemented nationwide by the end of 2026, ensuring equal access to treatment for all categories of citizens in need.
