The Telegram channel Ekolog.uz published a video showing a group of men destroying a wetland with their vehicles in the Kokdala district of Qashqadaryo region. The incident was promptly investigated by the Committee for Ecology and Climate Change in collaboration with the regional Department of Internal Affairs.
According to official reports, the individuals responsible for the violation were identified, and their vehicles were impounded on a penalty lot. This action underscores the ongoing efforts to enforce environmental protection laws and hold violators accountable in Uzbekistan.
Authorities calculated that the actions caused environmental damage amounting to 6 million 592 thousand soums. Additionally, each of the three violators was fined 50 times the base calculation amount—20 million 600 thousand soums each, totaling 61 million 800 thousand soums. The violators are required to fully compensate for the fines and the damage inflicted.
The Committee for Ecology called on citizens to treat the environment with care and preserve vegetation. It was emphasized that ecological violations lead to strict liability, serving as a critical reminder of the legal consequences for such destructive behavior in the region.
