At a briefing, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and Head of the Investigative Department Ramazon Ashurov reported that in the first three months of 2026, Uzbekistan recorded 1102 road traffic accidents (RTAs). Of these, 31.4 percent, or 346 cases, resulted in fatalities. These figures highlight the severity of road safety issues in the country and the urgent need for measures to address them.

Ashurov stated that the primary cause of accidents is speeding, accounting for 32.9 percent of incidents. The second most common cause is ignoring traffic light requirements (22.4 percent), followed by failure to yield to pedestrians (13.6 percent). This statistics clearly indicate that drivers frequently violate regulations, leading to severe consequences.

The briefing also noted that the number of crimes committed using information technologies has exceeded 18,000. Most of these are related to the theft of citizens' money through electronic payment systems. These data point to a growing threat of cybercrime and the necessity for enhanced control and protection in this area.

Overall, the information presented at the briefing revealed the seriousness of pressing issues in Uzbekistan, such as road safety and cybercrime. Authorities emphasized the need for effective measures to tackle these problems, though the outcomes of current efforts remain uncertain.
